At Chirocare in Nelson we specialize in helping the body function properly and reducing and/or eliminating  symptoms such as: pain in the lower back, neck/shoulders and ribs, headaches/migraines and pain or numbness/tingling in arms or legs.

Chiropractic is also very effective at resolving  elbow, hip, knee, shoulder and ankle problems along with improving mobility and function in the body.

At Chirocare in Nelson, we work to re-align joints of the body that have lost their proper alignment and have become 'stuck' or restricted in their motion.

If any joint in the body is twisted out of it's normal position and held there it creates pain in the joint  (try taking your middle finger and giving it a moderate twist and hold it there). When a joint is twisted, there is a strain of the tissues connecting the bones to each other and the tissues connecting the muscles to the bones (ie. ligaments and tendons). The irritation in the joint and the surrounding tissues creates muscle spasm in the area as a protective mechanism to prevent further injury by reducing movement in the joint. This is why problems can often feel muscular in origin and the symptoms can return soon after massaging or stretching the involved muscles. The underlying structural (joint) issues need to be resolved in order for the symptoms to disappear and the body to start functioning correctly.

The spinal cord runs down through the center of the spine and nerves pass out between each of the bones of the spine. All of the information to and from your brain (controlling all of the functions of your body) travels through these nerves passing out between the bones of your spine. If the spinal joints are twisted and irritated then this can place pressure or tension on these nerves passing between the spinal joints and affect how clearly the information travels to and from the brain. Because the brain and nervous system control all functions in the body, a nervous system that is not functioning  well will lead to a body that is not functioning well. When the body starts to function poorly, symptoms often appear.

Because of this close relationship between the nervous system and the spine, chiropractors often focus on the spinal joints and try to improve their relationship with the corresponding nerves.
